Up the hill or down by Pearlridge? Aiea's two climates
Drive from Pearlridge Center up Aiea Heights Drive and the air changes. Near the H-1, Waimalu and the Pearlridge area are warm, dense and full of condos and townhomes that heat up by mid-afternoon. Up the ridge, homes get cooler temperatures and better breezes, but also more moisture drifting down from the forest around Keaiwa Heiau.
That split shapes every AC job in 96701. Lower Aiea is about raw cooling capacity and keeping older units running through the heat. Upper Aiea is about quiet, efficient cooling for the still, muggy nights, plus controlling humidity so your split AC doesn't start smelling like a damp towel.
Middle elevations such as Newtown and Royal Summit, a gated community of newer townhomes and single-family homes higher in the hills, fall somewhere in between. Newer construction there often has better insulation and windows, which means a smaller, more efficient system can do the job.
