Kahala homes ask more of their AC
Kahala is one of Honolulu's most sought-after neighborhoods, and its homes reflect that: larger footprints, high ceilings, walls of glass facing the ocean or the golf course, and outdoor living spaces that flow into the house. Many older homes have been renovated or rebuilt, and new construction often goes well beyond what the original lots held.
All of that adds up to a bigger, more complex cooling job. A home might have a primary suite, guest wing, media room and office that are used at different times. One oversized system cooling everything at once wastes power at about 43 cents per kWh. Multi-zone design, where each area runs on its own schedule, fits how these homes are lived in.
